Historical Arch Bridges-Deterioration and Restoration Techniques

چکیده
Historic buildings are the most valuable evidence of cultural heritage. They play an essential role in establishing a tangible link between past and present by understanding, interpreting, tracing epoch civilization. Unfortunately, high costs restoration, vandalism, arson take their toll. However, new technologies having positive impact on restoration process becoming suitable alternative to labor-intensive, expensive, unsafe traditional inspections. Therefore, non-destructive testing (NDT) as method is more evident. Faro laser scanning, echo, impulse sound testing, geoelectric tomography methods leading inspection historic structures preserve character. These representative development non-contact techniques for examination documentation structures. Non-destructive examines internal external structure complex building components well defective areas, quantifies cracks, detects near-surface moisture. The objective this work identify adventurous reconstruction Turkish arch bridges Dara-1 Halilviran determine appropriate rehabilitation deterioration construction materials, damage, failure patterns. Bridge dimensions were measured using scanner, which allows inspectors capture evaluate data from structural without permanently altering them. captures bridge scanning cross-sections horizontal vertical planes. exported form point clouds that represent all visible aspects actual 2D 3D models. In comparison methods, main advantages applied time savings on-site creation three-dimensional model structure, can be used collect precise accurate surface objects manner. Multidisciplinar Aproach to Historical Arch Bridges Documentation
This paper describes the project of the Close Range Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing Group, University of Vigo, Spain, involving historic arch bridges in Galicia, Spain. The first aim of this Project consists on building a database of the historic arch bridges in Galicia, documenting location, surroundings, geometry, singular characteristics, structural faults, building material and state of c...
متن کاملSensitivity Analysis and Parameter Identification on historical Masonry Arch Bridges
Close to reality computation of the serviceability and load-carrying capacity of old masonry arch bridges for rising live loads is a current problem. In Germany many of such roadand railway bridges exist. Some of the most important features for applicable numerical evaluation of masonry arch bridges are a realistic structural model (very often three dimensional models are necessary), the consid...
متن کاملFailure Modes Analysis of Stone Arch Bridges
A destruction test based on the bridge safety appraisal is one way to verify the failure law of an actual bridge. In this paper, a stone arch bridge in a 1:10 scale model and with a span of 60 m (namely, an arch bar of the same length as the object of test) has been tested, methods of its whole test and loading process introduced, and ultimate bearing capacity, deflection and development rules ...
متن کاملHydraulics of River Flow Under Arch Bridges
IN T R O D U C T IO N Bridges are an integral part of any highway system. The design of a particular bridge depends on many variables. A major considera tion, often necessary, is the length of the bridge. In certain circum stances and locations the length may be dictated by factors other than cost. But, where necessary the designer must decide, “How far can the bridge approaches extend onto t...
